Frequently asked questions
Sometimes if I move my DAB+ radio even just 50 cm indoors I have better reception.
With DAB+ signal reception, moving the radio a short distance, even just a few dozen centimetres, can make a huge difference to the signal level. This is typical of DAB+ radio reception.
How far away can you be without being disconnected from Bluetooth?
An average of 10 metres or more in open spaces. But this greatly depends on the type of mobile phone (the strength of the Bluetooth signal emitted by this telephone) and the presence of any intervening walls and doors. If you become disconnected from Bluetooth when leaving for a moment, as soon as you return within range connection will be restored automatically.
Can someone else connect to my radio via Bluetooth with their mobile phone at the same time?
No. Once it is connected the radio only recognizes your mobile phone. Only if you purposefully disconnect in the radio’s Bluetooth menu can another mobile phone be connected to it.
If I use my rechargeable drill near the radio the latter fades away. When I stop the sound returns. How come?
If machines (e.g. drills, saw benches, forklift trucks, etc.) or battery chargers are operated next to or near a jobsite radio, the electromagnetic field they generate can interfere with reception by the jobsite radio. In the case of DAB+ reception, strong electric currents in the immediate vicinity can even cause the radio signal to fade completely.
Won’t my phone’s battery be drained quickly when connected by Bluetooth?
Bluetooth is more energy efficient than Wi-Fi, for example. Bluetooth energy consumption depends on the Bluetooth version installed on the telephone.
How do I connect my mobile phone to the Rockbox radio when doing so for the first time?
Simply via your mobile phone’s Bluetooth menu. Select "PP ROCKBOX" in your mobile phone’s Bluetooth menu. No PIN codes or similar are required.
